What students are saying:

" Financial aid has made it possible for me to be successful in life... It enabled me to find a passion in political science and education and pursue a BA without worry of financial burdens. After my father passed and mother lost her job, I thought I wouldn't be able to ever obtain a degree, but receiving aid made that possible. It allowed me, as a first generation and Latina student, to pave the path for those coming behind me. As a result, I have not only been able to do well in my academics, but have also been able to get my mother to come back to college after being out of school for several years as an immigrant and single mom tasked with raising three children."

"Since I am first generation and first out of my family to go to college if I didn't qualify for financial aid I believe I wouldn't be in school. In a sense it was an incentive to go to school and now I realize the importance of an education. I'm glad that our school helped us throughout the process of applying for college and informing us about financial aid."

"It [financial aid] has meant everything to me, especially finding my power and value as a single mother struggling to find child care to thrive in my schooling to bring my family out of poverty."

"Without financial aid, I would not have been able to return to school. I have two children, one over 18 and one under. Going to school full time with a preschooler and being a single mother means I can’t work so financial aid is what supported us."

    — Rachel Woodie

  • "I am 100% self supporting. Without financial aid I wouldn't have a way to pay for or attend college. "

    —Katelynn Harvey (she/her)

  • "I could not have gone to school without financial aid; however, I am also now saddled with over $22k in student debt. I wish that I had been eligible for more grants and scholarships that covered my tuition instead of having to rely on loans from the government."

    — Jacob Richardson (he/him)

  • " If I didn't have financial aid I would have to work a lot more and have to balance work and school and other things in my life and I could tell it would take a toll in my mental health."

    — Monica Pérez (she/her)

  • " Without FAFSA, I wouldn’t be able to continue school. Already I struggle paying bills and paying for classes would not be a priority without the financial assistance I get now. "

    — Stephanie Magana (She/her)

  • "Without it [financial aid] , my higher education would be nonexistent. I am the daughter of immigrants who work labor jobs, I too would have found a labor job until hopefully something better came along."

    — Lizbeth Urbieta (she/her)

  • "If I didn’t receive aid, I would most likely be working much longer hours or another job, and that valuable time would be taken away from studying and doing homework, and participating in all of the advocacy work I’ve been lucky to be a part of."
